Healthy Burritos

A healthy, high-protein, low-fat breakfast provides the fuel you need to get going in the morning.A good breakfast always starts one's day and making burritos with your choice of vegetables and meat gives all the energy to need perform well any where.Burrito sized flour tortillas are available in all store for a very quick fix anytime of the day but I prefer to use these store brought tortillas for making quesadillas only.I love to make burritos using home made chapathis instead of ready made tortillas.These are hubby's great choice of fast food whenever we have the urge to have some light snack during the weekends. First shop that comes to his mind would Taco Bell..which I don't really like much compared to my burritos:)

Burritos are a traditional food of Ciudad Juárez, a city in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua, where people buy them at restaurants and roadside stands.A burrito or taco de harina, is a type of food found in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine. It consists of a flour tortilla wrapped or folded around a filling. these fillings generally include a combination of ingredients such as Mexican rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, meat, avocado, cheese, and sour cream.I'm making the Indian version of these Mexican delights.

Healthy Burritos

Ingredients
Serving Size:4

4 home-made chapattis
1 can refined red beans
1 cup chopped grilled chicken cubes
1 large onions chopped
1 tomato chopped
1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
1tbsp ginger garlic chillie paste
1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
1/4 cup finely chopped cabbages
1/4 cup half cooked chopped potatoes
1tsp pepper powder
salt to taste
1/4tsp mustard seeds
1/4tsp cumin seeds
1tsp chillie powder
1/4tsp garam masala
chopped coriander leaves
onion wedges
coriander chutney
tomato chutney

Preparation Methods:
Heat a skillet with 2tbsp oil and splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds followed by chopped onions ginger garlic chille paste and all the spice powders. Saute till the raw smell of the paste are removed and onions turned brown. Then add the chopped tomatoes-once they become soft add all the chopped vegetables and chicken cubes.Cook till all the vegetables and chicken cubes become tender and juicy.Adjust the level of salt and remove from flame.

Place one chapatti on a plate and spread some coriander chutney evenly and scope few spoonful of the fillings-place them on the centre of the chapatti. Drizzles some tomato chutney,chopped coriander leaves and onion wedges. Carefully roll them.Indian style burritos are ready to be served.

Hey Sanghi u got very tempting selection of recipes in ur blog.I wasn't able to visit them for quite sometime and just few minutes back I want tru all ur recipes one by one. I'm not sure which one to give comments as all were superb esp ur chicken items...way to go my dear..keep it up
