Goreng Pisang (Fried Banana Fitters)



Goreng Pisang (fried banana) is a snack food mostly found throughout Malaysia and Singapore. It's popularly consumed as snacks especially in morning and afternoon. The bananas used are usually plantains as the batter usually adds some flavor to the banana. The banana are battered and then deep fried which often sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar. These snack are sold almost everywhere in Malaya- esp near to bus-stops.

Ingredients


8 bananas

2 cups all purpose flour

¼ cup rice flour

¼ cup brown sugar

2tsp baking soda

1tsp salt

Oil for deep frying



Preparation Methods:


In a large bowl add the entire ingredient except for the oil. Add enough water and mix into a batter. The batter should be in the consistence of dosai batter. Peel the bananas and fold in until evenly coated. Shake off excess batter and lower into hot oil.


Fry a few pieces at a time until golden brown on one side and then turn over to brown the other. Remove and drain. Serve hot with a cup of steaming coffee or tea.
